
Susan has been defending workers' compensation claims on behalf of employers and insurers for over 30 years. She has focused her practice on workers' compensation defense, representing employers and insurance carriers across Missouri and Kansas in complex workplace injury claims; managed cases from investigation through trial to achieve favorable outcomes. Susan has prepared and tried 100+ cases before the Missouri Division of Workers' Compensation, with successful defenses before the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission and the Missouri Court of Appeals. She has represented a diverse client base including Fortune 500 companies, insurers, self-insured corporations, third-party administrators, and regional businesses, providing strategic defense in complex workplace injury claims.
Susan has served as long-standing panel counsel for major insurance carriers, defending public agencies, transportation companies, utilities, pharmaceutical firms, and automotive businesses in workers' compensation litigation. She has also represented County government providing her expertise in all workers' compensation matters involving county employees; manage claims from initial injury through resolution, including investigation, compensability analysis, litigation strategy, settlement negotiations, and hearings. She provided legal counsel to County Government on claim exposure, compensability decisions, and litigation strategy. She also managed litigation, hearings, and settlements before the Missouri Division of Workers' Compensation, ensuring efficient claim resolution while protecting county interests and maintaining compliance with Missouri workers' compensation law.
Susan is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the Women's Business Enterprise National Council. She is also a Board Member at CHAMP Assistance Dogs, a local nonprofit providing service and facility dogs free of charge to clients in our local community. Susan is a proud Volunteer Puppy Raiser and recently completed the raising and training of her 9th service dog, all labrador retrievers.
Other than raising the pups, Susan spends her time away from the office as a member of the Italia America Bocce Club of St. Louis. Born in Canada has also provided her with the love of hockey. As a 2019 Stanley Cup Champion she can often still be heard humming Gloria!
